The style of the ring is not one that Mrs B would wear although it holds great sentimental value as a precious heirloom from her mother, and is seems such a waste for the ring to be hidden away in a jewellery box for years.
Original ring with stones removed.
Finally the couple decide to really make use of the beautiful gemstones and decide that they would like a pendant and earrings made in 18ct white gold. So we had an informal meeting where Mr and Mrs B decided to go ahead with the remodelling of their ring, and after discussing their tastes and requirements for the new designs, working closely with our stone setter, I set about making a variety of sketches for a contemporary yet classic design which will maximise the lustre and impact of the graduating sizes of the gemstones, here are some of those original sketches...
Their favourite design was quickly chosen and the deposit paid to proceed. We had another discussion after it was discovered that one of the rubies had a large chip on it once removed from it’s original ring mount. It was large enough to be re-polished at a small additional cost which was approved.
As the stones were all different sizes we used CAD ( computer aided design) to work out the exact size of each setting to be made. Finally the pieces were complete and I helped Mrs B chose a suitable necklace chain to compliment the pendant, supplied direct from the UK manufacturer.
I think you will agree that the final results are out of this world! Such a delight and so poignant that Mrs B can wear and enjoy her mother’s precious jewellery at last.
